Following on the heels of its highly successful “Christmas Retrospective,” “A HolyWeek
Pilgrimage” presents vignettes from the life of Jesus that are especially appropriate for theEaster season. Sections of the program include Teachings, Miracles, Arrival in Jerusalem,Merchants in the Temple, Communion, Denial, Death, and Resurrection.
Works that will be performed include motets by Melchior Vulpius, Antonio Lotti, OlivierMessiaen, and Marc-Antoine Charpentier; sacred works by Heinrich Schütz, EdwardBairstow, Arvo Pärt, Sergei Rachminoff, and Orlando Gibbons; and hymns and spiritualsarranged by Alice Parker, Robert Shaw, and H.T. Burleigh. The program concludes withBeethoven’s stirring “Hallelujah” from “Christ on the Mount of Olives.”
The Wichita Chamber Chorale is lauded as Wichita’s premiere choral ensemble. Since 2005Robert Glasmann has been conductor of the ensemble. Glasmann also teaches at WichitaState University, where he conducts the acclaimed Concert Chorale and serves as musicaldirector of opera. In addition he conducts the adult choir at St James Episcopal Church.Organist and pianist Julie Warkentin accompanies the ensemble.

Dr. White was born in Galicia in 1923, and was 16 when the Germans invaded Poland. He survived the liquidation of the Kosno Ghetto, and spent time in the Luftwaffe Labor Camp and the concentration camp in Krakow-Plassow before spending the last months of the war at Oskar Schindler’s camp in Bruennlitz, Sudentanland. He was one of only 3 of 34 members of his immediate family to survive the war. After the war Dr. White studied medicine at the University of Munich before immigrating to the United States in 1950. He spent his career as a doctor in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Today he gives talks about his experiences, primarily to high school and college students. This event is sponsored by the MKJF, WSU, Newman University, Inter-Faith Ministries, HC and CE. An interfaith memorial service will be included in the program. The event is free and open to the public.

An archeological/educational activity designed to recreate the excitement and adventure of an Israeli archaeological expedition. All proceeds from the event will go toward making wishes come true for children living with a life-threatening medical condition. A wish experience provides hope strength and joy to these children and their families at a time when they need it most. Each bachelor will be provided a date package that includes dinner and an activity to enjoy with highest bidder.
