Over the past four years leaders in Kansas have been committed to serving the community and improving its health and safety through the capacity building of local nonprofits that provide public services. To date, the establishment of the Nonprofit Chamber of Service has improved relations between over 200 local nonprofits and funders, has built the capacity of local nonprofits to work, learn and plan together, and has facilitated the development of best practices for nonprofits as they serve local citizens.

Session one of the "Making A Special Event Special" was entitles "The Many Faces of Special Events: Are You Reflecting Your Mission?" Thanks to all the agencies that participated in this year's Unified Nonprofit Food Drive. Together we collected 5,413 pounds of food donations and just over one hundred dollars in cash donations for the Kansas Food Bank!

Dr. White was born in Galicia in 1923, and was 16 when the Germans invaded Poland. He survived the liquidation of the Kosno Ghetto, and spent time in the Luftwaffe Labor Camp and the concentration camp in Krakow-Plassow before spending the last months of the war at Oskar Schindler’s camp in Bruennlitz, Sudentanland. He was one of only 3 of 34 members of his immediate family to survive the war. After the war Dr. White studied medicine at the University of Munich before immigrating to the United States in 1950. He spent his career as a doctor in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Today he gives talks about his experiences, primarily to high school and college students. This event is sponsored by the MKJF, WSU, Newman University, Inter-Faith Ministries, HC and CE. An interfaith memorial service will be included in the program. The event is free and open to the public.

An archeological/educational activity designed to recreate the excitement and adventure of an Israeli archaeological expedition. Sign up now to play golf at one of the premier courses in the country, just minutes north of Wichita . Sand Creek station was chosen as one of the top 50 public courses in the country and the second-best course in Kansas. The cost is $125 per player or $500 for a team of four. Registration includes green fees for 18 holes of golf, cart fees, gifts and prizes, beverages, and a barbecue lunch before the tournament and a steak dinner afterward.

Description: The 9th annual Bid for Bachelors Auction is scheduled for Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Wichita, Kansas.  All proceeds from the event will go toward making wishes come true for children living with a life-threatening medical condition.  A wish experience provides hope strength and joy to these children and their families at a time when they need it most. Each bachelor will be provided a date package that includes dinner and an activity to enjoy with highest bidder.  Bachelors are encouraged to sell tickets for the event to friends, family and co-workers. The bachelor selling the most tickets will receive an additional prize package. If you or someone you know would like more information about being a bachelor at this year’s event please forward an email to kansas@kansas.wish.org and someone from the planning committee will be in contact with you.
